martinez is a narrow gauge engine that works at the aresdale railway. sometimes, rex would say "martinez is not really a steam engine at all. he is electric!" even though that is an unsult, what rex said is actually 100% true. little old martinez would say "I am electric powered, and proud of it!" a very long time ago, he used to work at an american railway. when he worked there, he had no face or paint, feeling so miserable, that he derails in every single special. he then was sent to sodor to be scrapped, but luckily, howie, a steam engine saved martinez from scrap. when sir topham hatt found out, he restored martinez into working order, and sent him to work at the sodor arlesdale railway, where martinez loves to work at.
